Coyotes on Wollaston Beach…

So I’m cruising Wolly beach today when I notice what other people were shrugging off as a small dog. The poor fellow was very skittish…afraid of all the traffic and very wary of people…as he should be. This coyote was just a pup and probably got separated from it’s crew. Called Quincy PD because I didn’t want any kids approaching it and they said couldn’t do anything because it was a protected species?? I really wasn’t looking for a sniper and a swat team…just someone to maybe get it back to the woods….but whatever. Maybe he just wanted some fried clams….or maybe he was going to see Pauly D. at the ocean club tonight….

  • Aww, poor buddy. He/she does look like a juvenile….and look how it’s tail is in-between his legs in the 2nd and 3rd shot. That is definitely a submissive, “Oh crap, where the heck am I?” pose.

In terms of “protected species”, in this case, it means it’s against state law to capture and release a coyote into another area. So, that’s why Kwinzee PD couldn’t do anything about it.

    • I’m not sure of the number, but the New England Wildlife Center is in Weymouth and they would have come and relocated the animal, I believe…before anything happened to it.
