I Dont Play…

I Dont Play…

Been blasting this all morning… Been a few since I sounded off about a song I like and that’s usually because I get bored with what I’m hearing. I first heard this Pete Needy (Stay Puft Productions) beat in the 363: The Road to the

Coffee with a Chef Boy…

Coffee with a Chef Boy…

On a cold day back in January at Dunks on Morrissey Boulevard I had the opportunity to sit and have a coffee with one of Boston’s hottest Hip Hop artists, Gio Dee.  The questions start at his early years to get a sense of how

Beats, Rhymes and Life…

Beats, Rhymes and Life…

A Tribe Called Quest….

Play any one of their songs and it can put me back to a simpler time in my life. Whether it was my first house party, or attending school at the Woodrow Wilson, even my first Dot Day (with Budweiser). Their music can usually bring a smile to my face. To me, they where almost like a Led Zeppelin of hip hop music. They took the genre in new directions and broke new ground with every album. And just like Zeppelin, I never had the chance to see them live. So, when their documentary came out a couple of years back I was absolutely pumped. Now through the magic of the internet I can share it with my fellow Dot Rats. This is the full length movie….

Notice Us…

Notice Us…

In case you missed it last night on WERS 88.9. My man Gio Dee premiered his latest track “Notice Us” off his Fashionably Late album which drops Sunday 3/31 on iTunes. I was lucky enough to get a live rendition of this at the Morrissey

Coffee with Gio Dee…

Coffee with Gio Dee…

So yesterday I got to sit down with a man that is looking to change things. Gio Dee plans to put Boston back on the map in the Hip Hop world. Not only for himself, but so all his fellow artists can prosper. I would

Nothing Ordinary…

Nothing Ordinary…

I honestly can’t think of a better Hip Hop song on the radio right now. Every other song out there feels stale by comparison. Help support Bigg Dee and buy “Ordinary” on iTunes here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/ordinary-single/id574697568 . His new album Fashionably Late is out next month. I’m hoping to have him and the Chef Boyz on Dot Rat radio before they take off on tour.

Bigg Dee is a Dot Rat!

Bigg Dee is a Dot Rat!

That’s right….this guy feels a bit like Sean John this morning….well minus the 400 million dollars.  I wouldn’t even care if the roof blew off my house because my boy Bigg Dee is sporting a Dot Rat “DMC” shirt in his latest video with Chris

Bigg Dee invades Worcester…

Bigg Dee invades Worcester…

That’s right “Wistah” ….you have been warned. My favorite Boston linguists Bigg Dee and the #chefboyz are bringing a fresh brand of Boston hip hop into your neck of the woods this Friday @ The Venue. Bring your cameras….because someday you will want to show

So here comes Danny Smith aka SUpRALiMiNAL out of Somerville. This Art of Rhyme song and video are killer. Love the Miami Vice thing….reminds me of an old school Beastie Boys video. The kid has a flow…

Here comes Big Dee…

I like this kid…check him out just cruising down Dot Ave with his boys letting it flow. I’m old enough to remember when Hip Hop first hit the scene around Dorchester. It’s taken many different paths over the years, from political to flat out angry.
