I would like to take a moment to recognize my nephew Andrew. Today he was sworn into the United States Army and I couldn’t be more proud. There are few things more honorable than serving your country. He is the product of two very loving …
By now I am assuming you all have heard about Kevin’s story….he is a fellow Dot Rat and his family could use our help! Kevin Cellucci was severely injured in a crash back on September 6th and he remains in a coma; as a finish …
Anyway, this is a huge weekend. As if we didn’t celebrate being Irish enough, we went ahead and decided to stomp all over the German’s Oktoberfest and the Italian’s Columbus Day weekend to throw an even bigger party than both of them combined! “Wait Dot Rat….Columbus discovered America….that isn’t right!” I love my Italian brothers, but I say its brilliant planning, there’s a good chunk of us that get Monday off. Besides, we need to celebrate getting an Irish American Dot Rat elected as Mayor.
There’s a few of us that have already starting raiding the Sons of Italy…..
I for one think this Bocce ball sh*t has been going on for far too long….
It’s time to play more Hurling…it’s way more exciting and if you haven’t witnessed someone get cracked in the face with a Hurley you haven’t lived….but I digress.
Having two St Patty’s days just because is why being an Irish Dot Rat is so god damn sexy!
I want to take a moment to thank John O’Toole, Sean Weir and the rest of the volunteers and businesses that make the day possible. There was a ton of people who were really bummed out that it didn’t take place last year and I think I speak for everyone when I say it’s good to have it back.
Listen, when you cruise Dot Ave you gotta do it right. Age doesn’t matter, you gotta pump the stereo and show some attitude. Check out GreyZ and Dustin Timbercakes just lighting Dot Ave on fire. I’m really surprised no fly honeys tried tried to jump …
Dorchester, Roxbury and Mattapan….the Three Stripes of Boston. This is what I learned as a little kid in Boston Public Schools and its the reason I wear only Adidas to this day. Throw up those Threes Dot Rats!
In case you haven’t noticed the signs everywhere. We have a Dot Rat running for Mayor of Boston that goes by the name Martin J. Walsh.
Marty will get my vote for a number of reasons, many of which I will explain over the coming weeks leading up to the election. With that said I will give you my primary reason, experience. Marty Walsh is a man who has walked in my shoes. He has dealt with the same set of obstacles many of us have faced as Bostonians. Each and every time he’s been knocked down throughout the course of his life because of these obstacles he has dusted himself off, and evolved..not only as a politician but as a human being. Check out his recent sit down with the Suffolk County Sheriffs office.
What makes Marty so dynamic that he’s not only book smart, but street smart as well. Every time I have seen him sit down at a table for a negotiation or a debate with his fellow candidates, I am fully confident he’s the most in tune with the pulse of our city because of his experience here in Dorchester.
Tonight at Florian Hall the Dropkick Murphys and Steve Sweeney will be performing at a fundraiser for Marty’s campaign and I will be reporting live (If my phone cooperates).
Those of you familiar with the neighborhood may have heard of him. He could be often seen driving a sport bike around the neighborhood or an expensive German luxury car. Or even hanging out with a famous athlete or two. He’s always been a bit …
Anyone interested in taking a Leadership Role in the Festival – Please join us at St Brendan’s tonight in the Church Hall – 7:00 P.M. We need some key people to assist: Volunteer leader Children’s Activities Secretary Fund Raising Leader Sticker Committee If you want …
I just wanted to take a moment and acknowledge the awesome story the Dorchester Reporter did on Jane Richard today. Seeing her standing there with a huge smile on her face kind of made all my problems seem very petty and small. Jane fought like a Dot Rat and while we have all seen the photos of the victims in various stages of recovery and drawn inspiration from them….Jane’s picture is downright iconic. Whether she knows it or not, she is virtually thumbing her nose at all those who would think to attack this country.
Jane and her family are tough as nails and embody everything good about Dorchester and America!
Now if everyone will excuse me…I’m about to go kiss the Stars and Stripes and eat a cheeseburger. ‘MERICA!
So I walk into Marylou’s in Quincy for an iced coffee Sunday morning. Now plenty of us are familiar with their business model. The place is essentially a scaled back Hooters of coffee. And for full disclosure there is not a place on the planet …
