Five Bostons – Irish East

What’s up knuckleheads? Long time no blogging, huh? Life is good, just living the dream. So I was trolling old footage of the neighborhoods and ran into this old piece called Five Bostons from 1983 done by Chris Lydon. Great perspective as we watch the

Condo Open House…

These spectacular condos outside the Polish Triangle are a must see. 5 minutes from downtown, these well laid out, open concept multi floor units are perfect for entertaining friends and family. Massive master bedrooms with attached walk in closets, floor to ceiling closet organizer, and suited master bath.

All Star Shout Outs…

Just want to send a late shout out to two of my of Dot Rat All Stars.

First up is US Army Calvary Scout Colin McCarthy. I haven’t seen this savage since my July 4th party a few years back but, as you can see, he’s been busy letting North Korea know if they keep acting up they will eventually get an ass whipping.

Welcome home buddy!

Next All Star up to bat is Patrick Zawadski. Around Christmas I got to hang out with this beast while he was home on leave. You would figure he would be dreading going back but it wasn’t the case, he was highly motivated to get his training done and I’m psyched to say he graduated a couple weeks back.  Enemies beware!

I’m proud of you bud!

Dorchester is proud of you and grateful for your service!!

The age of Aquarius…

Once upon a time there existed a nightclub across the mighty Neponset river in Quincy Massachusetts. That club was called Aquarius and it was the stuff of legend. It resided inside this little hotel/motel where my parents actually spent their honeymoon (back then blue collar folks

Happy Birthday Martin…

You may be gone but few will forget how you managed to unite an entire city. Happy 11th birthday – Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Richard clan today.

Why I’m the only white guy on my Dorchester street…

This guy does a wonderful job breaking down the last 40+ years in Dorchester and what lies at the heart of a massive demographic change.

There are families that never left….and these families deserve a much better job from our policy makers when tackling the issue of gentrification. I know of some families have been in Boston for over 140 years, in that time they have endured two major social experiments in blockbusting and busing.  Improving the city is important but creating an environment where families, who are the fabric of Boston, are consistently priced out for the sake of lining the pockets of both the city and developers, especially those in other countries, should be avoided at all costs.

Guilty…

Guilty…

There isn’t a person walking this planet that should feel any remorse for what may happen to this terrorist now that a jury has found him guilty on all counts. Let’s honor all those living and deceased who protect us from these people on a daily

Best Coffee in Dot…

Best Coffee in Dot…

Ok, so this is long overdue. I tried to make this happen before and the polling system I used absolutely sucked. Sooooo…I’m doing it again….and this time it’s for all the beans <—–Right! – Damn your boy is shahp! What is your favorite local coffee spot?

Pipers invade the Harp & Bard…

Pipers invade the Harp & Bard…

There is just something so friggin cool about bagpipers rolling into a pub like this. It’s one part testosterone one part nostalgic and another part “drink up because these guys are going to wipe out all the beer”. The swagger meter is just off the charts here folks. A little part of me that wants my own crew of these guys to play for me everywhere I go. Think about how bad ass it would be to have these guys roll into PS Gourmet for your 6:30 AM coffee, wailing away….they finish their song….and you’re like “I’ll have a PS Special”….boom you’re an instant celebrity (or an instant liability for blowing out all the cashier’s ear drums).

Anyway, I want to send a big shout out to Jim Leahy and the rest of the boys of the Greater Boston Firefighters Pipe and Drums for sharing their video of the Harp & Bard raid.

Make sure to join them for their 5th annual Southie Pub crawl on June 28th!

For Tommy…

For Tommy…

Through the years there have been families from Dorchester that have garnered a reputation for their will to fight. Whether it’s for a friend or a just cause, we have no shortage of folks that will raise a pen, voice or fist for the greater good. The Kelly
