Dot is proud!

Dot is proud!

Bill Traft and Marc Anthony Muniz did a fantastic job representing Dorchester last night. First up in the amateur matches was Muniz who from the opening bell started working a stiff left jab that seemed to stop his opponent dead in his tracks every time

The Next 48 Hours…

The Next 48 Hours…

Dorchester has seen it’s fair share of promising fighters over the years. Many of whom never made it to the big stage for a host of different reasons. Some may have traveled the wrong path or decided they couldn’t weather the financial hardship involved with

Sugar’s fight postponed…

So the Danny O’Conner fight @ TD Garden has been postponed till January 26th. Danny suffered an injury during training and we wish him a speedy recovery. Till then, our favorite Dot Rat pugilist will have to wait to drop an ass whipping. This is just a minor setback and I’m sure Bill Traft will be ready to go on January 26th. Till then I’m recommending some study material to Sugar!

Sugar at the Garden…

I’m pumped to announce that Billy “Sugar” Traft will be representing Dorchester at the TD Garden on December 14th. Just like the fight at Gillette Stadium, he will be fighting on the card with Ken Casey’s boy Danny O’Conner as the main event. Should be a

Slipping the uppercut…

So I’m having coffee with my good friend Chris B. a few days back and he starts raving about this video. [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gejfS2R8FoQ] Right? I don’t know how the b*tch got up either….what a chin! Now I don’t endorse men hitting women, nor am I an

Rumble @ the Victory Road Armory…

Many of you know the Grealish family has been operating a Boxing Gym in Dorchester for many years.   My younger brother used to hang around their gym, and I would probably credit the Grealish family for my bro surprising the sh*t out of me with a left jab that had really bad intentions. The neighbors probably thought we were screwballs, but front lawn sparring sessions helped us 3 brothers keep some pecking order in the house….but I digress.

Tonight the Grealish Clan has put together an evening of Boxing @ the Victory Road Armory with none other than local boxing legend Tony DeMarco . Tony will signing/selling copies of his autobiography Nardo. Should be a fun night and there will be an after party at the Blarney Stone on Dot Ave.

Come on down and hang out!

More Sugar!

More Sugar!

Just got the word that our official ass kicker Billy “Sugar” Traft will be fighting November 10th. You can always count on Bill fighting like a Dot Rat…the leather will fly my friends. Once I get all the concrete details you will be first to

Victory…

So our very own Billy Traft made us extremely proud last night. Bill won by TKO after just one round his opponent would not come out for round 2.  Here is a short video of his walk to the ring. Thanks for giving the neighborhood

History will be made…

History will be made…

What is a Dot Rat? Some would rather not be associated with a dirty rodent or a snitch. The term goes back 50 or 60 years in these parts….but there are so many people who ask this very question. What is a Dot Rat?

Dot is the short name for Dorchester…

A rat….well it’s actually quite simple.

Just like the species….we do whatever it takes. We are survivors and grinders… we get our hands dirty to provide for our families…we master adversity. We are the mechanics at the garage down the street….we are the union laborers pulling 14 hour shifts to stuff some cash away for our kids education. Maybe we are college students holding down 2 or 3 jobs to pay for tuition. We are firefighters, nurses, managers and police officers. WE ARE FIGHTERS….

This is not a Dorchester thing….we exist everywhere…..from Midwest farms to the gritty streets of Detroit. But to us, the term Dot Rat stokes a sense of pride…..it’s a badge of honor. This neighborhood is not everything you read about in the papers. It’s so much more than that. It’s family, hard work and tradition to us…..

Tonight Bill Traft will stand in the same hallway that Tom Brady has stood in, staring at the ring built on the 50 yard line of Gillette Stadium….he will bite down on his mouthpiece and feel Dorchester running through his veins as he walks to that ring. His experience here has landed him on a massive stage. Win or lose his name goes into the history books….nobody has laced them up at Gillette before.

He will fight like he’s representing all 95,000 people of Dorchester and 617,000 of Boston as a whole. Tonight he will fight like a Dot Rat….

A fellow Dot Rat, Boston Police officer and pro boxer Billy “Sugah” Traft was weighed in this afternoon at The Banshee Irish pub in Dorchester. Plenty of Billy’s fellow Dot Rats were on hand to show support. Billy will be fighting tomorrow night at the
