A Dot Rat takes the oath…

A Dot Rat takes the oath…

I would like to take a moment to recognize my nephew Andrew. Today he was sworn into the United States Army and I couldn’t be more proud. There are few things more honorable than serving your country. He is the product of two very loving

For Kevin Cellucci…

For Kevin Cellucci…

By now I am assuming you all have heard about Kevin’s story….he is a fellow Dot Rat and his family could use our help!

Kevin Cellucci was severely injured in a crash back on September 6th and he remains in a coma; as a finish carpenter for Local 40, he was on his way to another job site when he was struck by a speeding vehicle on the Arborway. Kevin has a beautiful wife, Tina (Lamonica of South Boston), three little boys under 4 years old and so many friends and family that love him and need him to get well! As you are probably aware, an event of this magnitude can make a harsh financial impact on a family.

There will be a  fundraiser for Kevin on November 2nd at IBEW Union Hall. If you know anyone who wishes to contribute any items to donate for the fundraiser (gift cards, gift baskets, sports memorabilia, etc) please send an email to kevincelluccifoundation@gmail.com. The organizers are looking for items to use for the raffle, silent and live auction on November 2nd to generate funds for the Kevin Cellucci Foundation. They are also selling tickets to the event ($20 in advance or $25 at the door).

Those who cannot attend the fundraiser but wish to help the Cellucci family out, there has been a fund set up and donations can be made online at www.kevincelluccifoundation.com or mailed to the following address:

Fight cancer like a Dot Rat!

Fight cancer like a Dot Rat!

Cancer has affected just about every family I know including my own. My mom, brother, aunts and uncles have all battled it. One common thing I found in each instance is the people all took on a tough attitude. Along with Boston’s amazing medical community,

Irish you would come to the festival…

Irish you would come to the festival…

Yeah…I know…I’m pretty forkin clever.

Anyway, this is a huge weekend. As if we didn’t celebrate being Irish enough, we went ahead and decided to stomp all over the German’s Oktoberfest and the Italian’s Columbus Day weekend to throw an even bigger party than both of them combined! “Wait Dot Rat….Columbus discovered America….that isn’t right!”  I love my Italian brothers, but I say its brilliant planning, there’s a good chunk of us that get Monday off.  Besides, we need to celebrate getting an Irish American Dot Rat elected as Mayor.

There’s a few of us that have already starting raiding the Sons of Italy…..

I for one think this Bocce ball sh*t has been going on for far too long….

It’s time to play more Hurling…it’s way more exciting and if you haven’t witnessed someone get cracked in the face with a Hurley you haven’t lived….but I digress.

Having two St Patty’s days just because is why being an Irish Dot Rat is so god damn sexy!

I want to take a moment to thank John O’Toole, Sean Weir and the rest of the volunteers and businesses that make the day possible. There was a ton of people who were really bummed out that it didn’t take place last year and I think I speak for everyone when I say it’s good to have it back.

Make sure to find yourself transportation this Sunday….be safe!

A 17 year old kid throws a single punch in an altercation in which an MIT student gets stabbed to death. Does that 17 year old kid deserve a life sentence even though he was not the one who stabbed the student? Is he still

I couldn’t stand Iginla for his maneuver last season but I’m glad he showed a set last night. The hit was clean but dropping the gloves was proper Bruins protocol.
